Reception and Special Screening of The Girl and The Picture, a USC Shoah Foundation documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, April 27.
The Girl and The Picture, a film by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Vanessa Roth, shares childhood memories steeped in loss, survival, and forgiveness 80 years in the wake of the Nanjing Massacre.
A pre-screening reception will begin at 6:30 PM at the Soho House followed by an 8:30 PM screening of the film at Cinépolis Chelsea 3.
Q & A to follow featuring Director, Writer & Producer Vanessa Roth, Executive Producer Cecilia Chan, and USC Shoah Foundation Executive Director & Producer Stephen D. Smith.
This event reflects USC Shoah Foundation’s active commitment to testimony in the aftermath of the Nanjing Massacre. As you know, USC Shoah Foundation partnered with the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall in 2012 to gather survivors’ stories. With approximately 200 survivors alive today, the need to preserve a significant collection of comprehensive video testimonies has become urgent.
