Should a Photo of an Android Win a Portrait Contest?

Vanetta Mayers

A photo of an android was awarded a prize in a portrait contest. Do you think the photo should have been disqualified?

From the rules:
5.2 The photographs must be portraits. ‘Portrait’ may be interpreted in its widest sense, of ‘photography concerned with portraying people with an emphasis on their identity as individuals’.
5.3 All photographs must have been taken by the entrant from life and with a living sitter after 1 January 2016. Photographers must, if required, show proof of the date on which the photograph was taken.
